The Blonds
One of New York Fashion Week’s most anticipated shows held it’s popularity even with being scheduled on the same night as the Oscars happening on the west coast. Let’s face it fashion mavens plan for The Blonds as if it is their east coast Oscar event. All that being said, notable attendees Amanda Lenore, Padma Lakshmi and Lisa Rinna showed for the designers runway show themed around Fashion and Religion. Riding their beloved line of fantasy and reality, designers Phillipe and David Blond included thoughtful symbols that inspire them.
While the designing duo knows their client is specific the craftsmanship can be admired by all. Phillipe Blond opened the show wearing a gold embellished jumpsuit, gold crown, more then 35 inches of gorgeous blond hair and sparkling from head to toe. I’m sure something the infamous Wendy Williams would comment with her new saying of “Gorge-waaaaaah”. Wendy being another celebrity client of the designers as she wore a custom Halloween costume created for her in a previous seasons show. Models emerge on stage from the backdrop of a cross dawning the brand name “The Blonds” shining across it. From there models treated guests(and photographers) to a choreographed double-walk as models were featured center runway then returned for a second showing runway-side.
Two models wearing pearl encrusted baby pink satin designs helped give honor to the corporate sponsorship The Blonds has with Motorola makers of the Razr Smartphone. Other models wearing Pitta, the manufacturer of the face masks you’ll see paired with various pieces in the collection.
Giving ALL THE FACE-model Jillian Mercado whom has a resume to already be proud of made her New York Fashion Week runway debut. The equally gorgeous model whom has muscular dystrophy wore an embellished gold jumpsuit, matching headpiece while serving in her motorized wheelchair down the runway.
A huge dream for Mercado she later wrote on her IG page-
This moment brought to you by...Every single person who has a disability around the world that has felt unseen and unheard. For the countless of times that we all have shouted for respect and equal representation...
The Blonds have produced so much more than fashion. They foster “get out of the excuses, self doubt, non-inclusive mindsets” and so much more! While we mentioned the designing brothers know they have a specific client the amazing thing is the “specificity” is only set by our boundaries of ourselves.
