Pyer Moss
We have all been to fashion shows that were good, and some that were great. Some have been to fashion shows that were phenomenal and then there are those of us that went to Pyer Moss. Held inside the absolutely beautiful King’s Theatre in Brooklyn, his show was a star-studded affair that was the hot ticket that night. Not only were there actors, musicians and athletes in attendance, there were the most honoring of all his guests at his fashion show; other fashion designers. That’s when you know that this will be something special and Mr. Jean-Raymond did not disappoint.
Starting with being serenaded by a vocalist, who was accompanied by a pianist on a white baby grand, we were then awed by a heart-wrenching poem about the struggles of black Americans throughout American history. Finally, the crowd listened while a band backed by a full choir, sang rap lyrics of Brooklyn’s most beloved hip-hop artist. It was epic.
Lastly, we were treated to clothing that was drooled after by every person in the audience, no matter if you preferred urban-wear or gowns for formal parties. Using music as a theme, some of his creations incorporated instruments into the patterns of his garments. Other designs had a western flair, evident by his use of pointed-toe cowboy boots, long dusters and shirts with accented piping. Mr. Jean-Raymond prominently displayed his partnership with Reebok by outfitting some of his models in his signature sneakers. These shoes, not yet on the market, will most certainly be sought after during this “chunky” sneaker craze.
This was one of the nicest events that I have been to in a very, very long time, which explained why there was a queue wrapped around the building to get inside. This was our first, but hopefully not our last, Pyer Moss event.
