Jiri Kalfar (NYFW) Fall 2019 Collection
Czech based fashion designer and former ballet dancer, Jiri Kalfar has infused his creative world into fabric, color and texture choices to outfit celebs such as Alexandra Burke, Karolina Kurkova and Camila Cabello. The animal activist has created his products both ethically and for sustainability. Even though he isn’t a stranger to Fashion week through the London Market this was his first ever showing at New York Fashion Week. While he made history in his dreams with his debut other histories were taking place as well. Celebrating the 220-year-old history of Czech millinery Kalfar featured hats by Tonak. He also collaborated this seasons collection with Preciosa another Czech company well known for its crystals.
Super Models Alina Baikova, Linda Voitova, and Paulina Porizkova were all drafted by Jiri to bring his vision into motion during the Spring Studios showing. The models greeted each other with a girl boss playful high five in the shows beginning. The playful attitude we are sure stemming from the equally light hearted garments they were wearing. What a great mix of feminine and fun with bellowed sleeves, barely there minis dresses finished with lace and jewels. While this season Kalfar was inspired by the lavish character of fashion in Alexander Pushkin’s story “Eugene Onegin” he effectively brought high society feel to meet the ultra-glam modern wearable pieces any girl would want to wear.
