Meticulously Eccentric Oxford Fashion Studio NYFW S/S 2019
“For the individuals that don’t see fashion as a spectator sport, I invite you to be M.E. Being M.E. is about being YOU, your true self and not what anyone else thinks you should be. So, if you are proud to be you, I dare you to be M.E.” A quote from the website of Bay Area Babe by the way of Seattle, Art Fashion Designer Andreya Taylor whom does it all. Art Fashion you ask? Yes, it’s a thing at least for us and we are sure Andreya would agree. From design, pattern creation, construction to the final sew Meticulously Eccentric represents Taylor’s love of abstract art in fashion.
TRA Correspondent Erik Castano, had the opportunity to speak with Taylor at this season’s New York Fashion Week as she showed in part of Oxford Studios group show.
Q: Where did your brand name come from?
A: It comes from the way I personally design. I’m a very avant-garde designer, I love details. I’m also very eccentric and out of the box. I love color! With those two dynamics together, you get Meticulously Eccentric.
Q: How do you feel showing your designs for the first time in NYFW?
A: I think I almost had an “ugly cry” moment when my first model walked out. They would be happy tears but I’m holding it together.
Q: How do you come up with your designs?
A: It generally just flows, I start by drawing and I recognize that my designs are not for everyone they aren’t meant to be. I design for bold, “in your face” personalities all the while there is still a classic essence to them just with color.
Q: After today’s successful showing what is next?
A: I’m setting my sights on Milan, London, and possibly having a fashion house. Anything that makes me happy.
It has been said that Paris is always a great idea. The future of Taylor’s brand is as bright as its garments with her sunny disposition. Our team at TRA will keep a close eye out for her expanding dream.
