Fusha' Designs SP19 NYFW Presentation
When you work for it you can make anything happen which was our take away after speaking to rock star, Marie Claudinette Jean right before her presentation for this season's New York Fashion Week. The event took place at Pier 59 and was produced by Pamela Rosado PR with hair and make up provided by the AVEDA team. The sassy and equally classy designer was cool as a cucumber just hours before her presentation kick off back stage giving interview after interview. Our Editor n Chic, Marquita Bianca had the opportunity to chat with Jean about her hopes for this season's collections. "I love to touch and mix fabrics. I want people to feel sophistication." Yes, you may be reading and something tells you the name "Jean" rings a bell. Marie is the wife of mega star and producer Wyclef Jean whom also DJ'd the nights festivities for her. What better way to support each other artistically, right?
The artistry of Fusha Designs is a feminine and assertive look that all women can wear that adds a touch of one element to push the garment to perfection. Leather, hardware with sheer fabrics? Sure we will take it! A floor length white coat dress only secure by 4 buttons? Simply put.....why not? Even though Marie's launch year took place in 2000 the designer took much needed time off to spend with her daughter and her family she is back with a sure sense of what she wants.
In her pre show interview with MB, Marie explained her few years of premedical college studies was more fueled by wanting to make her mom proud, "When you are from the islands that is what you do" remarked Marie. After the passing of her mother and sister she believes her collections show the birth of support from her family and it gives her great peace. When asked about balance at home as wife and mother Marie very soundly replied, "This is what we do. Many people underestimate what I do because they see Clef and what he does and that is fine. He does music and I do fashion while I took a break now I can come back and give it all I've got". Recalling a short chat she had with Denzel Washington and the gems of advice he gave, "Marie, you will be asleep for a long time when you pass on. If you are healthy and feeling great you keep.it moving". Could any words ever be truer? As a piece of advice from Marie personally to all the beautiful, intelligent girls with a dream she explains, "Take your time, work with what you can handle and keep yourself surrounded by positivity.
