Afffair NYFW S/S 2019
Haute Fire is what we are calling our experience of Azerbaijani designer Rufat Ismayil’s debut collection. The first of his country to show at New York Fashion Week: The Shows he affectionately named this season’s collection as “Power of Fire”. Our Editor and Chic, Marquita Bianca had the opportunity to not only experience the collection from front row but also spoke pre-show with the designer about this season’s looks. She asked about the beginning of his day and he noted his morning routine started with a hot shower then prayer, asking God for a smooth and great experience for his first time in New York. What a first it was! We were blown away by the edgy yet sophisticated gowns that almost seem to float down the runway. Reports are totaling the shows viewership to a few hundred and we are positive they feel the same way. Ismayil noted the collection follows the stages of fire from ignition to end. The reflection of a flame having stages of red, green, gold and eventually ending in black translated beautifully through his collection.
The easily described extravagant collection had many stand out details from plunging necklines to equally high slits. Then there were the jewels, select dresses featured gorgeous semi-precious gemstones and embellishments. While crepe chiffon, silk, and even bejeweled shoulder pads gave each piece a balance of sophistication and desire. Produced by the power PR team at The Riviere Agency and set at this season off-site of Industria the show had notable attendees’ front row such as singer Rydel Lynch and ABC’s Dancing with the Starts Allison Holker.
Celebrities aside the models stole the show as each of them looked like they were meant to be wearing this exact line. A diverse group of chosen women that each had their own exotic feature. The press pit had a field day shooting this show. We too loved this as it just shows one more attention to detail the brand focuses on. Ismayil has set his sights on continuously building AFFFAIR as a global brand while maintaining its signature style for that strong and sophisticated woman that he designs for. With stepping out into his first year with such a strong presence we are already looking forward to next seasons designs.
