Naersiling NYFW S/S 2019
When the invitation for Chinese brand Naersiling arrived in my email box, the first thing that I did was look them up. Founded in 2009 and based out Shenzhen China, they have quickly made a name for themselves in the world of fashion. Describing themselves as a “contemporary luxury clothier”, Naersiling’s own clothing made their description seem a bit tame. They were holding the show at the New York public library in Bryant Park and for those that have never been there it is an absolutely beautiful structure. My anticipation started to build and I was not disappointed as I viewed their designs coming down the runway.
The patterns used, albeit sparingly, where of the type that did not hide the actual cut of the garment itself. In some cases, the use of a specific pattern on a jacket or dress, was used for the high boots that accompanied them. But what really stole the show, were outfits in solid colors. As I stated earlier, patterns in fabric can hide the lines of an article of clothing, so when there is nothing to distract the eye, the lines of the garment have to be very exquisite and pleasing. The attention to detail on the layering and subtle accessories such as full length pleats, asymmetrical cuts and extra long fringe, made for beautiful outfits that were absolutely gorgeous.
This combination of elegant clothing, being displayed in an elegant venue is why the CFDA chose Naersiling to close out this session of NYFW.
