Fashion Hong Kong 2018 NYFW Collection
Designers Harrison Wong, Anveglosa, and Heaven Please+ were the chosen line up for this season’s Fashion Hong Kong group show. The group show is presented each season by The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) showing in New York, London, and Paris! All three designers are bright, talented and what the HKTDC thinks will be the next big thing and we must agree.
Award-winning designer Harrison Wong has won both Japan’s Grand Prix Contest and Hong Kong’s young designers contest. Specializing in edgy menswear this season displaying color and contrasting designs featuring jackets zipping from the back and much more. The collection gave us a “fire and smoke” vibe with burnt orange, grays, whites and blacks. This combination made each outfit even more wearable, by showing plenty of variety with separates.
Heaven Please+ was developed by design team Yi Chan and Lary Cheung in 2011 and their success led to them opening their first store in 2013. This season’s collection contained over the top, yet functional pieces shown in jackets, tops, skirts and more. Chan and Cheung’s love for fashionable individuality was so apparent. You can also catch this duo designing costumes for artists and creative types from all over Asia.
Annette Chan, the head designer of women’s contemporary brand Anveglosa, spoke freely about this season’s collection being inspired by ballet theater. The brand specializes in collections of European leather. With over 30 years in the making, this chic brand can be found at luxury retailers Harvey Nichols and Galeries Lafayette Beijing. While each piece passes you, it is clear Annette’s designs can make women feel confident, sexy and assured, as they did for every model on the runway. Let us be honest, this can only come from creations that are impeccably designed, which Annette is a master of. What more can you ask for?
