Chromat NYFW F/W 2018
Fashion Weeks are divided into two distinct sessions; spring/summer and fall/winter. This is done so that designers can display the clothing a season ahead giving the buyers ample time to make their decisions and get the items onto the racks. With that said, swimwear designers usually show in the spring/summer session of a fashion week, because they are showcasing beach attire. Makes sense right? Wrong!!! Chromat has turned that philosophy on it’s head and show their designs every session of Fashion Week. Think about it… It’s 85 degrees somewhere in the world, all year long, regardless of what the calendar says. I truly don’t understand why no one else has not figured this out. And this is why Chromat is ahead of everyone else.
Founded in 2010, by Becca McCharen-Tran, Chromat has been nothing short of a juggernaut in the world of high-end swimwear. Her designs are what the rich and famous wear when they are try to impress other rich and famous people. Drawing from her architectural background, Becca combined that expertise with fashion and developed a style that relies on clean lines. Using materials and accents not normally associated with swimwear, she was able to add that flair to draw attention to the natural curves of a woman. Speaking of which… Chromat, a company that focuses on designing clothes for the most exclusive area of fashion, while maintaining the most inclusive lineup during Fashion Week. There were models of every shape, size and color on the runway sporting their creations. Very relatable to everyone and showing that no matter who you are, you can look good in swimwear too. Becca and her team not only have shown that they are capable of next level designs, but next level thinking right along with it.
