Carlisle Collection NYFW F/W 2018
Everyone loves a couture show right? The beautiful artistry that goes into designing a couture line is without a doubt, breathtaking. It is truly a show not to miss, but there is an issue with that... The runway is the only place that you will ever get to see those designs, so it’s essentially a “you had to be there” moment. As I’ve said before, this is why ready-to-wear designers have such a hard time at a fashion show. Their creations are meant to be worn, not just gazed upon once on a catwalk.
Carlisle Collection has taken ready-to-wear to the level that usually only couture achieves. Designing a line of clothing that is not just beautiful and innovative, but absolutely wearable without looking strange on the street. Don’t give me wrong, anyone donning an outfit from Carlisle, will most certainly turn heads, but solely due to envy. I love the paisley jumpsuits and accompanied by plaid overcoats. The two-piece skirts with knitted fishnet coverings look so classy together, but still new and stylish all the same. Something that I really appreciated it were the multitude of ensembles built around pants. My favorite look of the whole show and possibly of the entire week, was a grey tweed outfit, accented in blue, with a matching grey cloak. The combination exemplified the obvious philosophy of Carlisle Collection: Design strong eye-catching clothing, for the woman that wants to be as stylish as possible, on her way to the head of the boardroom table. Supremely timeless, while maintaining a fresh contemporary look is a definite strength of Carlisle Collection.
