Just In Case 2018 S/S NYFW Collection
Being born in Asia but having training from both the UK and Italy makes a great back drop for eclectic forward-thinking designer Justin Chou. Like the collection the models were just as diverse. With bold calligraphy lines inspired by artist Sanyu it is no surprise to hear about the exclusive collaboration of Chou having licensed permission by the National Museum of History, Taiwan to use Sanyu’s full art collection. What would you do if you could immerse yourself in an external entity that inspired you? Great things I’m sure!
Sanyu was a Chinese-French painter born in Nanchong, Sichan Province in 1901. With a successful family and seeing very early that Sanyu had a talent and interest in art they decided to homeschool him. Along with homeschooling came education from artistic formats such as calligraphy and painting lessons. With that background we would be inspired too! Sanyu has since passed but I’m sure being held in such high regard by Justin Chou he’d be pleased.
Just in Case as a collection is bright, bold, and barrier breaking just as any artist would want you to consider them.
