Zam Barrett and Kofta
As I have stated in previous blogs, designers use fashion shows to display their concepts, not so much to show what they will surely put up onto the rack. A more “look at what our creative minds can conjure” exhibition for those whom are deep into the fashion industry, to be exposed to before the general public. Zam Barrett and Kofta on the other hand, consider themselves artists first, but just happened to be able to translate their art into clothing. Part Mad Max, part Demolition Man, but definitely the fashion of the future. At their show, I was thinking that there is a representative of every caste division of the future walking down the runway. From the well to do government official, to the bourgeoisie, all the way down to a known associate of Alex DeLarge (look it up). The offering from Zam Barrett was a surprising gathering of art that was at home on the runway, but could certainly be in an art museum.
