Couture is such a beautiful genre of fashion. Designers are allowed to go completely wild with their designs and do things that would not ever end up on a clothing rack. I guess that it is akin to being a racecar driver: in a controlled environment, suited for that type of activity, going as fast as they can, is totally acceptable. Now doing the same activity on a normal street... not so much. Parasite Eve is one of the designers that regularly start on pole position. Her garments are we want to see at a racetrack, oh I'm sorry, a fashion show. Big, loud and standing out from the rest of the field. From a touch of goth, to a smattering of antebellum, by an extensive use of the almost forgotten petticoat. Velvet, satin and sewn in flowers to adorn already impressive dresses really take her designs to another level. The skill that is required to achieve this level of dressmaking, is not found very often. Eve's attention to detail, on top of everything else, is what makes of her garments a work of art. Much like the artisans of yore that handbuilt the most beautiful single-purpose racecars, Parasite Eve creates the most beautiful single-purpose dresses. That purpose you ask? To make us all say "wow".
