Syu Syu Han
I personally like seeing opposites that complement each other. Especially the most extremes of the two opposites; black and white. Obviously I also love fashion and the exhibition of it in a formal setting, such as at a fashion show, makes viewing even better. So, like smashing peanut butter and chocolate together, witnessing a designer putting on a monochrome fashion show, for me, was an absolute treat. Syu Syu Han did not go the route of creating simple variations of each outfit, in an attempt to make her clothing line seem larger, she designed completely independent outfits, making her range and imagination apparent to the spectator. A short asymmetrical dress with a choker that morphs into a strap bracelet. The fringe-laden leather motorcycle jacket combined with bell-bottom slacks. A floor-length cocktail dress, adorned with bandolier like buckles and straps. The most interesting of the show, was the white ruffle dress with a black waist strap. Interesting because of how the designer put the elegance of the ruffles, together with the edginess of the riveted leather straps. It's so nice to see designers take chances and I really look forward to see what chances she will take in February.
