Fashion is an ever-evolving world that stops for no one. It's also a world it doesn't solely have its trends trickling down from the top. We have all seen someone walking down the sidewalk wearing the most unique things that we could not imagine ourselves in. Fast forward a year or so and most of us that are now wearing said "unique" garment, have no idea where the style originated from. This is why the independent design houses are so important and why they should be supported by all in the fashion world. Samantha Leibowitz is one of those designers that we in the fashion world should follow, because of her fresh take on clothing. During the Spring/Summer 2017 addition of the Nolcha Shows, Samantha displayed a light and airy line of outfits that were perfect for the season. One thing I really appreciated, especially due to my closet being virtually monochrome, what's the use of so much black and gray in her summerwear. That is something that most designers stray away from, but she was able to absolutely make it work. That is the sign of a good designer. We were shown everything from a thigh-high cocktail dress, to a two-piece crop top legging outfit, to men's underwear to agorgeous bikini. Splitting her color palette down the middle by using solids for one half of a garments and then using variations of the same pattern for the other half. Samantha, being a good designer, was able to make every model look completely different in a way that only a good designer is able to.
